Gitzo Basalt Tripod Wins Hot1 Award

Nogent La Phaye, France (PRWEB) December 7, 2005

Gitzo, revered throughout the world for its precision, quality and innovation in bringing new products to market for both the professional photo and video markets, is proud to announce the Basalt Tripod among the select group of 2005 Hot1 award winners from Professional Photographer Magazine.

The Hot1 awards honors professional photographic products that are revolutionizing today?s imaging industry. This prestigious award is given to a product for its exceptional quality, innovation, design and performance.????

?The Professional Photographer magazine Hot1 Awards represent a must-have list of this year?s hottest, most sought-after new products,? said Jeff Kent, Special Hot1 Awards Editor and Editor at Large of Professional Photographer magazine. ?The awards are selected by a panel of working professional photographers, and are chosen based on innovation, overall quality and value for price.?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

With the development of the new Basalt Tripod, Gitzo has modernized a new generation of tripods. The volcanic-based basalt materials used to develop them from the ground up provide photographers advanced performance and durability at affordable prices. Suited for all camera types, ranging from compact digital to medium format film, these new tripods are more durable and better at absorbing vibrations than aluminum models with similar dimensions. With Basalt fiber legs, this new tripod is tougher than aluminum, yet 20 percent lighter. It is also recyclable, provides stability and has easy-to-use features. Gitzo is the first and only manufacturer in the world to create basalt fiber tripods.

Basalt fiber tube fabrication capabilities were developed for the space program because of the material?s lightweight and fire-proof properties. Gitzo utilized these while creating a new way of producing tripods. The basalt, a black lightweight rock, is pulverized, then melted at extreme temperatures (1500 degrees Celsius) and combined with other materials and spun into a strong fiber which is used to create multi-layer composite tubing. The result is a non-rotating tube of exceptional performance that meets the demands of today?s professional photographers. The legs are assembled using Gitzo?s ?H.I.S,? a dual ?screw thread and glue? jointing technology that provides greater durability than alternative methods.

It only takes seconds to open and secure the tripod with the new Anti-Leg-Rotation (ALR) system. Just loosen all twist locks at the same time and pull down the leg before tightening the twist locks, making setup a mere 15 seconds.

Waterproof bushings were employed making it safer to use the tripod near and in fresh water. An added plus, basalt tubes won?t get hot and cold to your touch the way aluminum does.

Gitzo, as usual, left no detail overlooked. Even the stabilizing hooks that used to take up space and snag on clothing or equipment will no longer be problematic. A newly redesigned built-in, spring-loaded, retractable accessory hook provides a place to hang equipment, such as camera, sand, or water bags, on the bottom of the center column.

Professional Photographer, the official magazine of the Professional Photographers of America, helps readers advance careers in the photographic industry. Each issue contains practical yet cutting edge lessons for both the business and artistic sides of professional photography.

Gitzo is proud to be the recipient of the Hot1 Award for the Basalt Tripod.????????????

Gitzo Introduces Mountaineer Tripod Featuring Breakthrough 6X Carbon Fiber Technology

Orlando, Florida (PRWEB) February 28, 2006

Gitzo, revered throughout the world for its precision, quality and innovation in bringing new products to market for both the professional photo and video markets, is proud to announce the Mountaineer GT2540L 2 Series 6X Long Tripod. The new tripod is an extension of the popular Mountaineer line as well as part of a new line of carbon fiber tripods incorporating a revolutionary design process that reduces overall weight up to 17 percent without sacrificing strength or stability.

Available in a four leg section configuration and with a maximum capacity of 17.65 lbs, the new Mountaineer rapid column tripod introduces a new concept of ?Eye Level? height tripods. According to this concept, tripods can hold the equipment up to eye level without extending the center column. Photographers and birders no longer need to compromise between tripod performance and use comfort. The taller GT2540L reaches maximum heights of 58.85 and 67.7 in (with fully extended central column) and folds to 24 in for travel.

Used together with the new G2180 Series 1 Fluid Head ? also being introduced at PMA 2006 ? the GT2540L Mountaineer 6X Tripod is ideal for bird watching and supporting medium sized spotting scopes.

New 6X Carbon Fiber Technology

The existing 1.5mm Gitzo carbon fiber tube wowed the world with its unsurpassed strength, stability and remarkable lightweight form factor. Utilizing a three-crossed multilayer carbon structure, bonded together at high pressure and temperature by high quality resins, Gitzo was able to offer professionals a carbon fiber tube that proved to be the ultimate in vibration absorption, strength and stability.

Tapping into its revolutionary resources and utilizing its unmatched experience with composite materials, Gitzo was able to develop a new, six-crossed multilayer 1mm carbon fiber 30 percent lighter than the previous generation that features the same exceptional performance of stability and vibration absorption and unbeatable quality.

Backing Gitzo 6X technology is the new six-crossed multilayer range which features the Anti Leg Rotation (ALR) system. The ALR system allows for a fast and smooth setup, yet maintains the uncompromised locking strength of the traditional Gitzo twist lock system. Just loosen all twist locks at the same time and pull down the leg before tightening them, making setup a mere 15 seconds for this four sectioned tripod.

By fine tuning its market leading three layer technology to a six layer, with advanced parameters in terms of pressure, temperature and bonding resins, Gitzo was able to create the 6X generation. The six-crossed multilayer tubes measure only 1mm, but are equally as strong and as stable as the 1.5mm, three layer carbon fiber tubes. The 6X range represents, once again, Gitzo leadership not only in introducing unique and world-first innovations, but above all in creating the best products in terms of quality and performances.

In addition to the new, exclusive six-crossed multilayer structure tube and the Anti Leg Rotation System, the new 6X carbon fiber tripods have been further improved to achieve an even higher quality standard. In a world where details matter, even the smallest details on these tripods have been improved. Top casting now features high quality corrosion resistant, polished stainless top casting bolts for added stability and a redesigned built-in, spring-loaded retractable hook on the bottom of the center column provides a place to hang a stabilizing counterweight such as camera, sand or water bags.

Manfrotto Introduces Modo, the First Photo and Video Tripod Designed for Everyday Use

Ramsey, NJ (PRWEB) May 12, 2006

Manfrotto, the world?s most renowned brand for professional photo and video accessories, is introducing the Modo family of tripods ? the world?s first photo and video tripod designed for everyday use.

Manfrotto has taken the professional features from their best-selling products and incorporated them into the Modo to create a high-performance, ultra-compact and lightweight tripod that packs into any bag or backpack. Now, even the amateur photographer can utilize the techniques of professionals and take high quality photographs and video.

All Modo tripods feature a number of innovative design elements that come together to create a unique blend of stability, portability and ease of use. Developed with a versatile hybrid head, the Modo can be used with both digital camera and video equipment. With the touch of the safety button, the quick-release plate allows the user to easily switch between cameras and equipment, making capturing family, vacation and everyday moments simple.

When stored, the Modo can fold down to fit almost anywhere. Extremely portable, the highly compact Modo 785SHB folds to a mere 14 inches while the larger 785B is only 4.1 in. longer when collapsed, measuring 17.1 in.

However, while these tripods are compact, they can stand tall when needed. The compact 785SHB has a maximum height of 45 in. Towering over the 785SHB, the larger 785B is the tallest tripod in the Modo line with a maximum height of 59.2 in. All Modo tripods feature quick flip leg locks that allow the user to easily open, close and adjust them to any intermediate height.

Modo tripods not only have a high reach, but they can also get low. For low angle images, the bottom of the innovative center column is designed to twist off, and the three variable leg angles allow the tripods to reach 6.1 in. (the 785SHB model) or 6.9 in (785B model) from ground level.

As is the case with all Manfrotto tripods, the Modo was designed for quick, easy and reliable use. The black, aluminum alloy tripods feature a sleek oval leg shape, making adjusting them even easier by preventing the legs from rotating.

The Modo family of tripods also includes a monopod, the 790B.
